Description
Aeromedical Retrieval Medicine For Extreme Altitude (ARMEA) Course Overview
The Aeromedical Retrieval Medicine For Extreme Altitude (ARMEA) Course prepares medical professionals for work as Flight Paramedics, nurses, or doctors on a HEMS unit that retrieves casualties at extreme altitudes.
Retrieval medicine takes profound skills to stabilize the critical casualty whilst adding environmental stressors during the medical evacuation. Add to that are the additional stresses found in altitudes above ten thousand feet (3000m).
This online course covers some of the medical skills required for Flight Paramedics working at high altitudes. It is specifically designed for work on helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft in resource-poor environments and with prolonged evacuation times.

IBSC Examinations
The IBSC exams for Flight Paramedics and Critical Care Paramedics can be booked through the IBSC website. These exams can be taken worldwide at any Prometric testing center. They can also be taken in your own home on your computer. Click here to start the process.
In the last few courses, we have learned that the chance of passing these exams increases when they are taken two or three weeks after the course. Therefore, we no longer offer the IBSC exams at the end of the classroom training.
We suggest that you arrange to take the course once you have taken a couple of weeks to review your classroom notes and the online review content.
